"A hate campaign has been unleashed against me" especially on the web. This was reported by the President of the Umbria Region Stefania Proietti (centre-left).

Proietti herself announced that she has decided to take legal action and on Monday she will file a complaint with the postal police for the accusations, threats and insults, including of a sexist nature , "against her person and against the institution she represents."

The governor also intends to ask for damages, as soon as the perpetrators are known, to protect her image, reputation and honorability, and that of the Institution, explaining that the compensation she will obtain will be donated to charity.

After reporting the case, Proietti received solidarity from numerous national political figures. Among them, the governor of Sardinia Alessandra Todde. "I want to express all my solidarity to the president of the Umbria Region Stefania Proietti, victim of serious sexist attacks on social media and very serious threats . Stefania, as a friend and as president of the Region, I am at your side in this battle against those who would like to silence us as women," wrote the president of the Sardinian regional council in a message. "The many women who expose themselves, especially in the political sphere, are forced to endure attacks of all kinds and pay much higher prices than men. We can no longer accept this, " added Todde. "Continue your work with your head held high. We are at your side because hatred cannot go unpunished."
