Two over-70s are the robbers who missed a shot at the post office in Bellona, in the Caserta area.

Yesterday morning, armed with a pistol and a cutter, they entered the post office in Viale Dante Alighieri and climbed over the counter to get hold of the money. A woman, who was outside, warned the carabinieri that at that moment they were passing along the road and the soldiers promptly intervened by blocking the two criminals: the first 71 years, 74 the second, both residing in Rome.

The weapon they had turned out to be a replica without a red cap with also a magazine and 10 blanks. They were arrested and taken to prison while a third accomplice, who had remained outside as a stake, disappeared.

The 118 health workers also intervened on the spot to help an employee and a customer who fell ill.
