Ponte Morandi, agreement between the State and Autostrade: 3.4 billion for the community
The company will also have to allocate € 13.6 billion for investments in the network

The Ministry of Sustainable Infrastructures and Mobility and Autostrade per l'Italia have signed an agreement which, following the collapse of the Morandi Bridge in Genoa, defines the procedure initiated by the ministry in August 2018 for serious breach of maintenance and custody of the motorway network by the Aspi concessionaire.
In the tragedy, which occurred on 14 August 2018, 43 people lost their lives.
The agreement closes the dispute proceedings against Aspi, which could have led to the revocation of the motorway concession .
The agreement fully incorporates the conditions defined at the Council of Ministers of 14 July 2020, which provided for some commitments, including the execution by the company of measures for the community for 3.4 billion euros and investments for 13 , 6 billion on the network. Of the latter 2.5 billion euros will be allocated for extraordinary maintenance to be carried out by 2024, as well as for the strengthening of supervisory and control activities, the implementation of IT systems to support mobility management, the increase in penalties also in the event of slight violations by the Concessionaire, the acceptance of the tariff regulations introduced by the Transport Regulatory Authority, with a significant moderation of the tariff dynamics on the entire motorway network
The settlement between the ministry and the company will become effective after registration with the Court of Auditors. Atlantia, which in June signed the agreement for the sale of the entire Aspi stake to the consortium consisting of Cdp Equity, The Blackstone Group International Partners and Macquarie European Infrastructure Fund 6.
