"I am satisfied that I was vaccinated, because the vaccine worked excellently in our case".

These are the words of the "patient zero" who brought the Omicron variant of Covid to Italy , a 48-year-old manager from Campania who returned from Africa (Mozambique) and found positive after returning.

He had left Mozambique on 11 November and landed at Rome Fiumicino airport. From here, he moved by car to Caserta, where he resides with his family.

"Considering - he explained to Rai microphones - the mild symptoms of mine and of my family who have been infected and include people between 8 and 81 years old, I can say that the infection has manifested itself only in a mild way".

The 48-year-old then confirmed that he was in isolation and closely monitored by doctors and health authorities.
