Investigations continue on the tragic story of Castel Sant'Elia , in the province of Viterbo, where Ciriaco Pigliaru, 65, originally from Olbia, killed his wife - from whom he was separating - with rifle shots, and then turned the same weapon against himself, taking his own life. All under the eyes of their 30-year-old daughter, the first to raise the alarm.
The carabinieri are now conducting checks on the rifle used by the man, seized after the crime, which took place in front of a cottage that the family had renovated. From what we learn it would belong to an acquaintance of the man, who had no firearms license. The investigators want to ascertain how he got it, whether it was loaned to him or stolen it.
And the motive is also investigated. According to the first reconstructions, the man would never have accepted the end of the relationship with his wife - Anna Cupelloni - a 57-year-old native of Nepi - and, after the separation - further disagreements of an economic and patrimonial nature could have occurred.
According to the local press, the couple's acquaintances claim that the man felt "strong resentment" towards his wife.
The main lead followed by the investigators would not be that of an impetuous murder, but of a premeditated crime.
