Net increase in the weekly incidence which, nationally, reaches 241 cases per 100 thousand inhabitants from 10 to 16 December, compared to 176 in the previous week.
This is the first fact that emerges from the usual monitoring of the control room. The RT calculated on symptomatic cases is slightly decreasing: it is equal to 1.13 (range 1.09-1.19) in the period November 24-December 7, the previous week it was equal to 1.18.
The pressure on hospitals is growing: the employment rate in intensive care as of December 16 was 9.6%, compared to 8.5% on December 9. Medical areas occupied at 12.1%, against 10.6% in the previous week.
The alert threshold is set at 10% for the intensive and 15% for the other departments.
Another 4 Regions end up in the yellow zone: Liguria, Marche, Veneto and the Province of Trento are added to Calabria, Friuli Venezia Giulia and the Province of Bolzano.
So there are 12 million Italians who will spend Christmas in the yellow zone, with the obligation of outdoor masks. And in the following week, that of New Year's Eve, at least three other “important” and highly populated Regions could be added such as Lazio, Emilia Romagna and Lombardy. They are all at the limit of the occupancy thresholds of the beds, with this trend it is expected that they will exceed them at the next monitoring.
REGION BY REGION - Nine Regions and Autonomous Provinces this week exceed the alert threshold of 10% of employment for Covid cases in intensive care. They are Calabria (11.8%), Emilia Romagna (11.9%), Friuli (18.3%), Liguria (13.7%), Marche (16.7%), Molise (10.3%), Bolzano (18%), Trento (21.1%), Veneto (15%).
Eight instead exceed the alert threshold of 15% for the occupation of medical departments: Calabria (20.8%), Friuli (22.6%), Liguria (17.9%), Marche (15.6%) ), Bolzano (16%), Trento (17.6%), Valle d'Aosta (18.2%), Veneto (16%).
