Once again in Naples the prodigy of the "miracle" of San Gennaro took place.

The announcement of the liquefaction of the blood, already dissolved when the ampoule was taken from the case located in the Chapel of San Gennaro in the Duomo, was given at 10.03 am and was greeted by long applause from the many Neapolitans who had gathered in the Cathedral since the early hours of the morning to take part in the celebration of the archbishop, Domenico Battaglia.

The liquefaction of the blood of San Gennaro, which for the Neapolitans is a sign of good omen, occurs three times a year: on 19 September, the day of San Gennaro, the Saturday preceding the first Sunday in May, and on 16 December.

«This blood is not an oracle to be consulted and even less a city horoscope whose function is to predict misfortunes or fortunes for the city. No, the relic we venerate is simply a road sign, a pointed index that refers to the necessity, the urgency, the need to follow the Gospel of Christ in a radical way, allowing ourselves to be attracted without reservation by its liberating beauty, listening with heart and his Word of life and hope open mind", said the Archbishop of Naples, Monsignor Domenico Battaglia, in the homily for the celebrations. «Let it truly be a celebration, a celebration in the heart, a celebration that asks for the desire for peace in our lives, in this city, in our land», he concluded.
