One year after the flood of 15 September 2022 in the Marche which caused billions in damage and 13 victims, the body of Brunella Chiù, a 56-year-old from Barbara (Ancona) who had been missing since then, was found in front of the Tremiti islands.

The Carabinieri Forestale - Nipaaf Group of L'Aquila communicated this to the Region.

Confirmation of the identity, as ascertained by the L'Aquila Prosecutor's Office, came from the DNA examination. The body was buried in the Vieste cemetery (Foggia).

Among the 13 victims of that devastation there was also little Mattia Luconi , the 8-year-old boy torn from the arms of his mother originally from Urzulei and found after eight days, killed by the fury of the water.
