She was returning home and was attacked near the San Zenone al Lambro station: the victim, an 18-year-old girl, was dragged away and raped in an underpass.

This is what happened shortly before midnight between Saturday and Sunday. The young woman suddenly found herself confronted by a man who grabbed her and dragged her into a green area with thick vegetation, pinned her down, and raped her. After the brutal assault, her attacker abandoned her and ran away, and the shocked eighteen-year-old managed to raise the alarm.

The investigation is being handled by the Carabinieri of the San Donato Milanese (Milan) company and the Milan Investigative Unit, coordinated by the Lodi Public Prosecutor's Office. Investigators are examining local security cameras, although none are reportedly present at the exact spot where the violence occurred.

The 118 emergency medical service transported the girl first to the nearest emergency room and then to the Mangiagalli clinic specializing in sexual crimes in Milan. There, the biological traces of the attack, collected by doctors, were reported and will soon be sent to the RIS for sampling, in the hope of comparing them with those of a suspect.

"Yet another absurd act of violence has occurred in San Zenone al Lambro, where an 18-year-old girl was attacked and raped at the station. Such incidents are unacceptable and require an immediate response: increased security, more controls, and clear penalties. For those who commit these heinous crimes, we in the League are calling for chemical castration," said Fabrizio Cecchetti, Lombardy's League MP and secretary of the Office of the President of the Chamber of Deputies, in a statement.

"Our deepest sympathy goes to the young girl raped near the San Zenone al Lambro station," commented Laura Ravetto, Lega MP and head of the party's Equal Opportunities Department. "Now, the citizens who live in Milan and its surrounding areas on a daily basis must reluctantly live with unacceptable situations of degradation and insecurity, especially when they put the safety of women at risk."

Solidarity also came from the Democratic Party, through regional councilor Simone Negri : "We express our solidarity with the victim of this terrible violence," but at the same time, he also appeals to "regional leaders to urge them to take action: safety on Trenord trains and in Lombardy's stations is an emergency that requires prompt action. I would just like to remind you that in the first six months of 2025, 2,903 crime reports were filed related to incidents on trains and in stations in the region. That's an average of over 16 reports per day, with Milan leading the way with 1,881 reports, or 64.8% of the total. And 24 sexual assaults were reported, an average of four per month, of which 17 occurred on board trains and seven in stations."

Today, again in Milan, a similar incident involved a public transport vehicle , a trolleybus on route 90, one of the busiest in the Lombardy capital. A woman was sexually assaulted by a stranger who, taking advantage of the commotion, initially managed to escape. Followed by a female passenger, the man was apprehended shortly thereafter by the police. The man, a 21-year-old Bangladeshi, is undocumented and has a criminal record, and has been charged with sexual assault.
