Just over 24 hours after the inauguration ceremony, the Italian athletes received a visit from the Italian President , Sergio Mattarella . It was a highly impactful meeting, with the President of the Republic, as he often does, offering inspirational words to our athletes.
" The first competition is with yourself and your own limits, to push yourself and improve, and then there's the one with the other participants. We hope you'll win many medals, but what's important is how you participate : with commitment, giving your all, with loyalty, with respect for others.
It is a competition that offers the world a spectacle of extraordinary value, of coexistence, of friendship, of humanity, of seriousness." The Opening Ceremony of the Milan Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games will be held on Friday 6 February, starting at 8 pm, at the San Siro Stadium.
