A woman dies alone at home with her 7-month-old granddaughter. The baby is rescued after hours: neighbors were drawn by her crying.

She remained for hours beside her lifeless grandmother, crying until she attracted the attention of neighbors. Tragedy struck in Moglia, in the province of Mantua, where a 60-year-old woman died of natural causes in the apartment where she was staying with a seven-month-old baby girl entrusted to her by her parents.

Neighbors raised the alarm, concerned about the little girl's incessant crying and the fact that no one was answering the doorbell. Firefighters, law enforcement officers, and emergency responders arrived on the scene around noon yesterday.

Once inside the home, they made a dramatic discovery: the woman had died during the night, while the child was in good condition. The little girl was immediately assisted and returned to her parents, who were immediately notified by law enforcement. According to initial investigations, the sixty-year-old, a non-resident of Moglia, was a guest and had been entrusted by her parents to care for the child during their absence.

The victim, Rosa Ortiz Adames, died of cardiac arrest, it was later confirmed. The newborn was transported as a precaution to the Mantua hospital: her condition is not life-threatening.
