Harry, Meloni: "Hundreds of millions for infrastructure. Compensation for agriculture."

Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, accompanied by the head of the Civil Protection Department, Fabio Ciciliano, returned to Sicily on Monday morning for a reconnaissance of the areas hit by Cyclone Harry , starting from Niscemi.
The Prime Minister had already visited the town in the province of Caltanissetta, which was hit by bad weather and landslides on January 28th.
During her visit, Meloni announced that "the decree law to address the consequences of the wave of bad weather that hit Southern Italy in January, particularly Sicily, Sardinia, and Calabria , will be presented to the Council of Ministers on Wednesday ."
"We expect," Meloni explained, "several hundred million euros to be invested in restoring the infrastructure network and services."
The measure will also include "compensation and support initiatives for the affected economic activities, particularly those in the agricultural sector . Taxes will be suspended for all affected areas. Taxes should be suspended until April, meaning payments will be postponed until at least October. The Ministry of Labor is working on social safety nets for both employees and self-employed workers who are unable to work."
Furthermore, Meloni explained, "the ministries have mobilized and have alone made available, net of additional resources from the Ministry of Finance, approximately 170 million euros for activities in various fields."
In Niscemi, a municipality threatened by a landslide, a special commissioner has been appointed, the head of Civil Protection, and €150 million has been allocated to the municipality alone.
