Molise has been shocked by the death of a young parish priest while celebrating Mass : it happened in Limosano, in the province of Campobasso. Father Aloys Mwoli, 47, originally from Cameroon , was celebrating a religious service in his parish when he suddenly collapsed from an illness and never recovered.

"His sudden passing," said Limosano Mayor Angela Amoroso, "has deeply affected us and leaves an immense void in our community. We will cherish the memory of his presence and his invaluable pastoral ministry with affection and gratitude . Together with the entire parish community, we extend our deepest condolences and sincere sympathy to his family in this time of profound grief."

Don Aloys had been a priest since 2009 and before arriving in Limosano he had been parish priest in another municipality in Molise, Petrella Tifernina.

"For our community, he was an important and significant presence ," recalls Mayor Alessandro Amoroso. "Here, in Petrella Tifernina, he took the first steps on his priestly journey , first as a seminarian alongside Father Domenico Di Franco and then as a priest, celebrating his first Holy Mass in our community after his ordination on June 19, 2009. Over the years," he adds, "he built a genuine bond with Petrella Tifernina, one of simplicity, openness, humanity, and sincere closeness to the people. For this reason, his passing leaves a profound void, not only in the religious community, but in all who had the opportunity to know and appreciate him."

Hundreds of messages from faithful and people who knew the priest have been pouring in on social media , expressing their condolences over his passing.
