Thirteen years and 8 months. This is the sentence inflicted by the Palermo preliminary hearing judge, with an abbreviated procedure, on Lorena Lanceri, accused of external complicity in a mafia association for having been the "supplier" of Matteo Messina Denaro, the mafia boss who died last September , remained wanted for years and arrested only in January 2023.

According to investigators, Lanceri "looked after" Messina Denaro for months. Initially she was only accused of "aiding and abetting", however during the investigations the accusation was changed.

Her husband Emanuele Bonafede was instead sentenced to 6 years and 8 months, accused of aiding and abetting and also of procured non-compliance with the sentence.
