Piero Moriconi , 63, the bricklayer who yesterday afternoon killed his wife Kety Andreoni , 51, and their son Mirko Moriconi , 24, by shooting him with a hunting rifle, spent the night in Lucca prison.

The murderer was taken into custody last night for the double homicide of his family. The Carabinieri questioned him and then transferred him from the Camaiore barracks to the penitentiary. The investigation is being coordinated by Prosecutor Elena Leone.

Over the course of the hours , long-standing family problems were confirmed, starting with Piero Moriconi's inability to accept his son's homosexuality. "My father would rather me be dead than gay," the young man had denounced in a video on social media.

The young man worked as a waiter and enjoyed being an amateur singer. His mother, in some ways, sided with her son, with his choices—so it is reconstructed—but over time, friction and conflict grew between the three . This tension culminated yesterday afternoon in the double homicide. While waiting to be arrested, the man reportedly told his relatives, who arrived upon hearing the gunshots, "I've freed myself."
