On April 28, he reacted to a robbery by shooting. He killed two bandits and wounded a third.

The jeweler of Grinzane Cavour (Cuneo) Mario Roggero, initially accused of culpable excess of self-defense, now has to answer for much more serious crimes.

Multiple willful murder, attempted murder and illegal carrying of a common firearm.

According to the Asti public prosecutor's office investigating the matter, in fact, the jeweler "shot the unarmed bandits, unloading the entire magazine, to cause their death, thus voluntarily exceeding the limits of legitimate patrimonial defense".

The man, we still read in the deed of conclusion of the investigations, after the conclusion of the robbery "chased the three robbers who were running away with the stolen goods outside the exercise, and fired at them from close range". It also emerged that "the jeweler does not have a firearm license and therefore the fact of having brought the firearm, legitimately held in the jewelery shop, outside the same, also entails the accusation of illegal firearms".

Mario Roggero's jewelry shop had already suffered a robbery in 2015. He, his wife and daughter were tied up with plastic ties and locked in the bathroom by robbers, who disappeared with jewels and watches for a total value of 300 thousand euros. Not without having beaten Roggero violently, it took him weeks to heal from his wounds.

The alarm had been given by the two women, who managed to free themselves. A few months later, thanks to the images of the surveillance cameras that had taken the escape car, two bandits were arrested by the carabinieri.
