Unvaccinated people are 39 times more likely to end up in intensive care than vaccinated with a booster dose. This is what emerges from the data of the extended report of the Istituto Superiore di Sanità published today.

The rate of hospitalization in intensive care for the over 12s is in fact 31.3 cases per 100 thousand people for the unvaccinated, about 39 times higher than vaccinated with booster dose which record a rate of 0.8 per 100 thousand.

As for hospitalizations in general, however, the rate is 248.5 hospitalizations per 100 thousand inhabitants for the unvaccinated, about 12 times higher than the 20.8 which is the rate for those vaccinated with a booster dose.

Finally, the death rate, the unvaccinated risk 33 times more. Among the unvaccinated over 12 there are 52.9 deaths per 100 thousand inhabitants, among those vaccinated with a booster dose only 1.6.

REINFECTIONS - The ISS also focuses on reinfections: 108,886 cases were reported from 24 August to 9 January 2022, equal to 2.7% of the total number of cases notified. In the last week the percentage of reinfections (3.2%) of the total reported cases is stable compared to the previous week (3.4%).

Furthermore, the likelihood of reinfection is higher in unvaccinated than in vaccinated with at least one dose.
