A prisoner escaped at dawn this morning by jumping from a window on the second floor of the San Paolo hospital in Milan and a policeman, in an attempt to stop him, fell several meters and is now fighting between life and death.

This was announced by Aldo di Giacomo, secretary of the Spp union.

Mordjane Nazim, the escaped prisoner, is a Moroccan taken to hospital last night following an argument that took place in the San Vittore prison. At 5.25 this morning he jumped from the bathroom window. The policemen who were guarding him, seeing that he did not come out of the bathroom, broke down the door and a 28-year-old officer, leaning out of the window, fell, hitting his head: he is now fighting between life and death.

The policeman is hospitalized in intensive care, in the same hospital in Sao Paulo, after having undergone surgery

According to the trade unionist, attempts to escape from hospitals are increasing throughout Italy: "In the last month there have been four, all foiled." Not only that: «There is a stampede of prison doctors because they are increasingly subjected to threats from inmates precisely to obtain hospitalization. The situation is very serious, the prison issue must be put on the government's agenda."
