Operation “Taken Down” has begun , the largest operation against audiovisual piracy conducted in Italy and Europe to dismantle the most widespread transnational criminal organization that illegally served over 22 million users .
In Italy, the blitz, coordinated by the Catania Public Prosecutor's Office, saw 270 postal police officers engaged from dawn onwards in 89 searches in 15 Italian regions and, with the collaboration of foreign police forces, in 14 searches in the United Kingdom, Holland, Sweden, Switzerland, Romania and Croatia, involving 102 people.
Also involved are the province of South Sardinia in addition to Catania, Naples, Bari, Palermo, Messina, Syracuse, Agrigento, Lecce, Taranto, Foggia, Brindisi, Frosinone, Rome, Latina, Cosenza, Salerno, Avellino, Caserta, Matera, Mantua, Milan, Monza-Brianza, Brescia, Turin, Alessandria, Florence, Massa Carrara, Siena, Livorno, Pisa, Lucca, Reggio Emilia, Ferrara, Bologna, Rimini, Treviso, Genoa, Chieti, Perugia, Macerata.
Croatian police have executed detention orders against 11 suspects.
