The plot seems like Home Alone, except that instead of the Christmas period everything happened in the chaos of the August holidays and a family was left with bated breath for hours: a fifteen-year-old English boy, who was supposed to return to London on a Tui flight from Menorca, lost sight of his parents and took an EasyJet flight that took him to Malpensa instead of Stansted .

The news, first reported by the Guardian, has also been confirmed by EasyJet, which has now opened an internal investigation in addition to that of the Spanish police, which is trying to ascertain how it is possible that someone, specifically a young boy, was able to board a flight without a ticket .

When the parents couldn't find their son, who, according to Spanish media, is on the autism spectrum, they raised the alarm. A search was immediately launched at the airport, where the teenager was nowhere to be found. Through CCTV footage at Mahon Airport, law enforcement—who had issued a search warrant—realized that the boy had boarded a flight to Milan, landing on time around 11:30 a.m. Meanwhile , Easyjet arranged for the mother to arrive at Malpensa, where she landed around 8:00 p.m., and then booked their return flight, reuniting the two with the rest of their family at the end of a wild and eventful vacation in the Balearics.

"We are investigating with the airport and our ground handling provider in Mahon to understand how a young passenger managed to travel alone on the wrong flight to Milan," the company explained, adding that "easyJet works closely with all the airports it operates at to ensure the safety of all passengers."
