The finger of the hand of a lost patient and never found again. This happened in the hospital in Moncalieri, where a 57-year-old worker turned on November 15, 2020 after being injured in an accident at work in a factory in the Cuneo area.

The 57-year-old at the entrance to the hospital had delivered, wrapped in gauze, the part of the ring finger that had detached due to the accident. His hand, after the first dressings, had been bandaged and on the following 24 November, at the Turin CTO, at the end of the surgery that was supposed to fix the limb, the discovery: the finger had not been reattached and no one knew where it was all done.

The case was examined by the Turin prosecutor but has already been filed by the court: a nurse from the Moncalieri hospital admitted to having seen the finger, explaining however that it was now necrotic and therefore useless. But the man's lawyer, lawyer Sabrina Di Guardo, in addition to having challenged the reconstructions of the facts carried out by the health personnel in several points, objected that from the moment of the secondment it had passed just over half an hour and that the patient was a man of Indian origins with a very dark complexion: "No wonder that piece of ring finger looked black".

Now an investigation by the Asti prosecutor's office remains open on the causes and possible responsibilities of the accident at work. But no trace remains of the finger.
