Died from an illness on the Ryanair flight that left Turin and headed to Lamezia Terme .

The tragedy occurred yesterday, the victim is Giuseppe Stilo, a 35-year-old originally from Filogaso (Vibo Valentia) who lived with his wife in the Cuneo area. The couple was returning to their home town to visit their family, she was five months pregnant .

Halfway through the journey Giuseppe felt ill, the pilots decided to return to Turin's Caselle airport and when the aircraft landed the doctors who had already been alerted got on board and helped him. Nothing could be done, they were only able to confirm his death and had to take the victim's wife to hospital, who fell ill following the tragedy.

The two were married a year ago and were expecting a child.

“There was no delay in the rescue,” specifies the ASL . «Due to a passenger's illness, the aircraft headed to Lamezia Terme returned to Turin with an emergency procedure - they explain from the health company - on board the aircraft meanwhile two doctors on the flight began cardiopulmonary resuscitation maneuvers assisted by the on-board staff, who made the semi-automatic defibrillator on the plane available".

Before landing the doctors delivered two shocks with the defibrillator . «In the meantime, the medical personnel on duty at the airport emergency room were preparing on the runway to provide aid and the 118 operations center, alerted to the situation, sent the basic Borgaro Torinese ambulance, followed by the vehicle with doctor and nurse with headquarters in Venaria", underlines the ASL, highlighting that upon the arrival of the plane " the doctor on duty at the airport immediately went on board and provided the third shock with the AED and administered adrenaline".

«It should be noted that the first ambulance with the volunteers was waiting at the gate and took about 2 minutes to access the airport grounds (in the meantime the patient had three doctors with a defibrillator and adrenaline who were assisting him) while the 118 medical team entered immediately », concludes the ASL.
