Paralyzed following a serious accident at work, he agreed to cover his head by pretending to have been the victim of a road accident.
It happens in Liguria: in 2018 the man, 32 years old at the time, was working with other colleagues on the A12, between the Chiavari and Lavagna toll booths, for the removal of some barriers. According to a later reconstruction, he fell from the “Rio Rezza” viaduct while using a machine that overturned. His colleagues had picked him up, loaded him into a van, and taken him to the street saying that he had been hit by a pirate car that had dragged him for a few meters.

The worker had been hospitalized in a very serious condition and was then paralyzed. He himself had confirmed the reconstruction of his colleagues and the traffic police investigators had set to work to find the alleged hijacker. Analyzing what was captured by all the cameras, they noticed only one car passing on that stretch at that time. The vehicle was then tracked down and which however did not show any dent compatible with an accident of that magnitude. In short, the story did not add up.

THE CALL - An anonymous phone call then revealed the mystery, telling how things really went. Investigators, coordinated by the prosecutor Daniela Pischetola, found traces of blood under the viaduct and also on the van used to transport the victim to the site of the fake accident.

Not only that: they discovered that the overturned vehicle had been brought to Asti and the theft had been reported. The machinery was later found with some missing pieces, according to investigators, to hide the traces of the accident.

The owner of the Asti company that deals with road maintenance, the workers and the victim himself were then investigated by the Genoa Public Prosecutor's Office for various reasons for very serious injuries, simulation of a crime and aiding and abetting.
