New suspected case of listeria in Italy. And another man died after eating a chicken frankfurter .

It happened in Alexandria , where an 80-year- old fell ill with listeria monocytogenes meningitis after eating some raw sausages.

It happened last September 29th.

Already working on the case, as Repubblica anticipates, the Ministry of Health, the General Directorate for Hygiene and Safety of Food and Nutrition, the ASL, the Carabinieri of the NAS and the Alexandria prosecutor's office.

According to reports, the man bought sausages from a large food company , which were then eaten raw. The presence of the bacterium was found in sampling carried out in a production plant: it is therefore infected poultry meat .

BACKGROUND - From 2020 to today, three more people have died and 66 clinical cases of listeriosis have been identified in Italy . The deaths occurred in December 2021, March 2022 and June 2022 in Lombardy, Piedmont, Emilia Romagna and all involved immunocompromised or particularly fragile people.

In recent weeks , batches of chicken frankfurters with positive results had been withdrawn and removed from the shelf as a precaution by the same Venetian agricultural company, the Tre Valli Agricultural Cooperative.

The product, the Veronesi Group company specifies, exclusively concerns what was produced and remained on the market after the summer, identifiable with the CE IT 04 M stamp and expiration date up to 5 December 2022 inclusive.
