A serious episode of violence occurred yesterday evening in Comunanza, in the province of Ascoli Piceno , where an elderly couple was brutally attacked, with a 75-year-old man in critical condition while his wife, despite the fractures she suffered, is not in danger of life.

The two are hospitalized in Ascoli Piceno hospital.

A 40-year-old local man was arrested on charges of attempted murder and damage. According to reports, the man allegedly attacked the couple, blaming them for the end of a relationship with his daughter . After the assault, he also attempted to set fire to the couple's home, located on Via Santa Maria.

The alarm was raised around 8:15 p.m., when a call to 118 indicated the urgent need for help for a seriously injured man and woman. Paramedics immediately intervened on the scene, but, due to adverse weather conditions, the air ambulance was not available. Both injured people were then transferred by ambulance to the Mazzoni hospital in Ascoli Piceno. According to reconstructions, the 40-year-old first kicked and punched the elderly man, and then violently attacked his wife. After the act, the attacker spontaneously showed up at the Comunanza Carabinieri station, confessing what had happened.

The Carabinieri of the Operational and Radiomobile Nucleus arrested the man, who was held in the security cell of the Provincial Command of Ascoli Piceno, awaiting transfer to the prison of Marino.
