The first-degree sentence for the murder of Giulia Tramontano , stabbed to death when she was seven months pregnant by her partner Alessandro Impagnatiello, is expected today, on the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.
For him, the Milanese public prosecutor Alessia Menegazzo with the addition Letizia Mannella asked for life imprisonment with up to 18 months of daytime isolation , at the end of a prosecution speech that lasted about two hours and was presented as a real "journey into horror" planned for months .
A premeditated murder , the Prosecutor's Office has no doubts.
Giulia was killed in the apartment the two shared in Senago, in the Milan area, with 37 stab wounds, on the day she met with the other girl the 31-year-old barman was seeing . Impagnatiello, who had already tried to kill her with rat poison , attacked her, and once she was lifeless, he tried to burn her body and then hid it. He was found in a cavity near a garage four days later, while he, who had filed a missing person report, claimed she had left of her own free will.
Forensic psychiatrist Pietro Ciliberti and medical examiner Gabriele Rocca, appointed by the Court of Assizes of Milan to perform the psychiatric assessment on Impagnatiello, found narcissistic traits and no "sense of guilt", but established that he was capable of understanding and willing . The two lawyers defending the man, Giulia Geradini and Samanta Barbaglia, in their pleadings tried to refute that there was premeditation .
GIULIA'S MOTHER'S POST
On Instagram, Giulia's mother, Loredana Femiano, reshared a post written by her sister Chiara in recent days. " Giulia died in Italy, also because we are a country that is afraid of women. On November 25th - it reads - we will shout for justice for Giulia and Thiago, but we will do it for all the women who no longer have a voice. Where there is justice, there is a future. Where there is justice, there is hope for the new generations, so that they can live in a country where there is no fear of being a woman . Giulia will be with us in that courtroom, together with you, with all the kind souls torn from this world. We will be there, and I hope that all the women who still dream of a future without fear will be there." Following, the image of a pin with the photo of her daughter and a red ribbon with the words "with you always forever".
