Dimitri Fricano, the 38-year-old from Biella convicted of the murder of his girlfriend Erika Preti, which occurred in 2017 while the two were on holiday in Lu Fraili, San Teodoro, has been granted house arrest again.

Sentenced to 30 years, Fricano had already spent over a year under house arrest and was allowed out three hours a day. During these outings , he often met Erika's parents , who lived near his home.

In February, the Surveillance Court sent him back to prison . But now Fricano has returned to serve his sentence under house arrest, at his mother's home.

The reasons have not been made official, but they are expected to be the same as last time. The Surveillance Court can grant alternative measures to detention if the inmate's health conditions are incompatible with the prison regime. In Fricano's case , obesity (he weighs approximately 200 kilos), mobility difficulties, and excessive smoking were the reasons for the initial granting of house arrest . It cannot be ruled out that his condition has worsened.
