There were 5 stab wounds - including a lethal one to the carotid artery - that caused the death of Vincenza Saracino, the 50-year-old resident of Preganziol (Treviso) found dead in an old industrial building near her home. The crime occurred in the late afternoon of July 2, and the body was discovered the next day.

The autopsy was carried out by the anatomopathologist Claudio Terranova, who handed over the documentation to the Prosecutor's Office for the investigation currently still against unknown persons.

Among other injuries, the expert also highlighted a fracture of a cheekbone, a circumstance which suggests that the murder came at the end of an argument involving beatings with bare hands. An attack from which the woman, who does not appear to have been sexually abused, would have tried in vain to defend herself, given some scratches and bruises found on her arms.

The hypotheses are based on an impulsive episode, therefore not related to premeditation. It is plausible that the victim had agreed on an appointment with the person who then attacked her and therefore further indications are expected from the examination of the telephone and messaging traffic recorded in the seized woman's smartphone together with other possible sources of evidence. Readings of the story which classify it as an attempted robbery also appear to have no basis. Therefore the lines of investigation, entrusted to the Carabinieri, seem to focus on those who may have had sentimental interests towards the woman or, if of a financial nature, referable to more complex relationships, such as disputes connected for example to debts.
