Former Speaker of the Chamber Irene Pivetti goes to trial: tax evasion, a fake sale of Ferrari in the crosshairs

Former Speaker of the Chamber Irene Pivetti on trial in Milan on charges of tax evasion and self-laundering.
In the crosshairs some operations that would have served to clean up money resulting from tax offenses. Thus ended the preliminary hearing before the investigating judge who ordered the indictment also for the rally driver and former Gran Turismo champion Leonardo Leo Isolani, his wife Manuela Mascoli, her daughter Giorgia Giovannelli, the notary Francesco Maria Trapani and another entrepreneur, Candido Giuseppe Mancaniello.
The investigation hypothesizes an intermediation role of Only Italia, a company attributable to Pivetti , in 2016 transactions by Isolani's Racing Team, which wanted to hide some assets from the tax authorities (it had a debt of 5 million), including the three Ferraris. The cars would have been at the center of a fake sale to the Chinese Daohe group and then, instead, be transferred to Spain, where there would have been an attempt to sell them.
The only "asset actually sold, or passed" to the Chinese, reconstructs the charge, would have been "the Scuderia Isolani logo combined with the Ferrari logo". If the aim of «Isolani e Mascoli» was «to conceal the ownership of the assets and subtract them» from the Treasury, «the objective pursued by Irene Pivetti» would have been «to purchase the Isolani-Ferrari logo to sell it at a price ten times higher than the Dahoe group, without appearing in person»: according to the Public Prosecutor's Office, the former Speaker of the Chamber, who last September had the seizure of 3 million euros confirmed by the Cassation, allegedly bought the brand for 1.2 million euros to then sell it to the Chinese company for «10 million» .
Now the matter will be examined by a panel of judges: on 13 June, in fact, the trial will open before the fourth criminal section of the Court.
Pivetti also has another problem: the then third most important office in the state must answer for fraud in the exercise of commerce and fraud in public supplies. Through Only Italia, during the first wave of Covid, he would have imported 15 million masks from China deemed non-compliant and destined for the Civil Protection for 30 million euros . A case that in 2020 had given way to an investigation, taken in Rome, passed through Milan and finally landed in the town in the province of Varese.
