Fire in Vieste, the flames devour the forest: a residence with 1,200 guests evacuated
Tourists also to be transferred by sea, an alarming situation due to the strong wind that pushes the fire towards the accommodation facility

Big fire in Vieste, where the flames are devouring the forest overlooking Baia San Felice .
The situation is alarming: the flames developed in an inaccessible area and, pushed by the strong wind, are advancing dangerously towards the Baia dei Campi, a residence which hosts around 1,200 people and was evacuated as a precaution by the firefighters.
Tourists who do not have a car are transported on board boats by sea and hosted in a gym made available by the Municipality.
Two Canadairs, a fire brigade helicopter and several vehicles engaged from the ground are in action.
Due to the fire, the provincial road towards Mattinata was closed.
