The Council of Ministers has approved the bill on transparency in charity which provides for new, more stringent rules, also for influencers and in light of the case of Chiara Ferragni .

The provision is made up of five articles which establish the information that producers are obliged to provide on charitable activities. Producers and professionals must indicate "on the product packaging the recipient of the charity proceeds and the purposes for which the money is intended" . Furthermore, if there is a predetermined amount allocated to charity, it must also be reported on the packaging, if it is not, "the percentage share of the sales price or the amount allocated to charity for each unit of product" must be reported.

Such information must also be provided in product advertising and commercial communications.

« Before putting the products on sale – we read further in the text – the producer or professional communicates to the Competition and Market Authority: the information on the charity and the deadline within which the payment of the amount intended for the charity will be made ».

The payment of the amount intended for charity must also be communicated to the Agcm.

Anyone who violates these provisions risks fines of between 5 thousand and 50 thousand euros , which can be increased by up to two thirds in more serious cases and decreased equally in less serious cases. And to obtain maximum transparency, the AGCM " publishes, also in extracts, the sanctioning measures adopted on a specific section of its institutional website, on the website of the producer or professional recipient of the sanction, in one or more newspapers, as well as through any other means deemed appropriate in relation to the need to fully inform consumers at the care and expense of the producer or professional ". In case of repetition, there is also a risk of suspension of activities.

The bill, comments the Minister for Business and Made in Italy Adolfo Urso, "complies with the principles of transparency and ensures clear and non-misleading information" .
