The former bodyguard of Umberto Bossi, the 68-year-old Francesco Aresi, died following an accident in the mountains of Valbondione, in the Bergamo area.

The man was hiking with a friend when he fell ill and crashed into a cliff.

The body was recovered by the Alpine Rescue and was taken to the Farewell Chamber of Gazzaniga.

Aresi had been on vacation in a camper for a few days with his wife. His father, a partisan, had died at the age of 64 in the mountains on Pizzo Formico in similar circumstances. The funeral will be celebrated on Wednesday, at 10, in the Basilica of Gandino. "I have just learned with pain of the disappearance of an old friend and an early Northern League player - recalled the vice president of the Senate, Roberto Calderoli -, a true Northern League player, Francesco Aresi, historical collaborator of Umberto Bossi from Bergamo together with his brother Emiliano: Bossi called them the Karazamov brothers. Condolences to the Aresi family, to his brother Emiliano, to all their loved ones: I lose a friend, we lose another companion on a long journey ".
