There are still many elements to clarify about the death of Fabio Palotti , the worker found dead yesterday in an elevator shaft inside the Foreign Ministry in Rome .
In the next few hours an autopsy will be held on the 39-year-old's body, which will serve to clarify whether he died instantly or after hours of agony and therefore could have been saved. From a first reconstruction it seems that he died hours before the discovery , dating back to yesterday morning. Maybe even on Wednesday evening.
To understand whether the accident at work occurred while Palotti was working alone on the maintenance of the lift and for this reason the colleague who discovered the body on Thursday morning and the owner of the company will be heard. Meanwhile, it emerges that he would have died by crushing and not by having fallen into the void, as hypothesized at first.
Hence the checks whether there has been a malfunction of the block command or a tragic forgetfulness of the worker. Investigators are also acquiring images from the cameras in the area. At the moment the file, coordinated by the prosecutor Antonino Di Maio, is against unknown persons and the alleged crime is manslaughter .
