A forty-year-old accused of assaulting his wife and threatening to throw his one-year-old daughter out of the window of his house was arrested yesterday evening by the carabinieri in Stradella (Pavia).

The military were alerted by neighbors, alarmed by the screams of the woman who, with her 12 and 14-year-old daughters, had run away from home because her husband, drunk and with a history of injuries and mistreatment in the family, had attacked her. The forty-year-old, of Romanian origins, had remained in the apartment on the third floor with his young daughter and as soon as he saw the carabinieri he looked out the window, protruding his torso with the child in his arms and threatening to let her fall.

The military positioned themselves under the window trying to reassure the man - who in the meantime threw some vases - and at the same time alerting the Broni firefighters to force the lock on the apartment door.

Once inside, the forty-year-old threatened to throw the girl down again and the carabinieri at that point used the taser. When he got up, the man kicked and punched the soldiers. Blocked, he was taken to prison. The girl is reportedly in good health.
