The Carabinieri are executing a precautionary custody order issued by the investigating judge of the Brindisi court at the request of the Lecce District Anti-Mafia Directorate against ten people.
The defendants are accused, to varying degrees, of association for the purpose of trafficking and dealing in drugs, with the aggravating circumstance of having facilitated the Sacra Corona Unita active in Tuturano, a hamlet of Brindisi, and of violations relating to weapons.
The military operation affected only Puglia, but also Sardinia, with investigations conducted in the penitentiaries of Sassari and Oristano.
It was from the Oristano prison that one of the suspects allegedly gave orders, giving instructions on how to recover, pay for and transport the drugs. According to the investigations, this is a 37-year-old clan leader who, from the penitentiary, was able to use digital devices, including a PC, and even social networks.
