Drinks methadone: 9-year-old boy ends up in a coma

A 9-year-old boy is hospitalized in very serious conditions at the Di Cristina pediatric hospital in Palermo after ingesting methadone .

The little boy is in a coma, in the intensive care unit . With him also his parents, residing in Pioppo, a fraction of Monreale.

After arriving at the hospital in a 118 ambulance and after blood tests that detected methadone - a narcotic used to prevent withdrawal symptoms in those trying to detox from opioid drugs - the hospital doctors have alerted the carabinieri .

The military informed the Prosecutor's Office - which opened a file, currently against unknown persons - and started investigations to clarify where the child found the methadone and how he took it .
