The comparison of the DNA of the 20-year-old Bosnian girl with that of Denise Pipitone , the girl who disappeared on 1 September 2004 in Mazara del Vallo, in the Trapani area, gave a negative result. The young woman is therefore not the little one who disappeared into thin air.

The genetic tests had been arranged by the Marsala prosecutor Fernando Asaro and the prosecutor Roberto Piscitello. The DNA had been taken from the young woman, who was in a Roma camp in the capital.

The girl's parents, Piera Maggio and Pietro Pulizzi, knew nothing of the test before the news was released by the Rete 4 program "Quarto gradi": «We were informed last night through the various messages that we received. We were unaware of anything. We look forward to any concrete news, always with our feet on the ground. We cannot afford painful illusions," they wrote on their social profiles.
