«In the end I also tested positive for Covid. Thanks to all the vaccinations done, the symptoms are mild: slight cold but very high viral load."

Microbiologist Andrea Crisanti , who is now a member of parliament for the Democratic Party, announced it on Facebook.

In the same post, the professor, who during the pandemic was also a consultant to the Sardinia Region , lashes out at the Government on the new vaccination campaign: «So far, in Italy, only 852 thousand have been vaccinated, of which only 282 thousand are among those over 80. I would therefore like take this opportunity to invite especially the most vulnerable to get vaccinated as soon as possible , particularly given the elimination of monitoring and tracing systems which does not allow us to have a real picture of the epidemiological situation. In fact, the only data we have are those relating to hospital admissions."

«As an Italian – adds Crisanti – I am ashamed to have a Minister of Health, doctor and academic, who has contributed with policies and lack of information to discourage vaccinations , after the vaccine was the measure that allowed us to get out of the pandemic emergency.

The result - he concludes - is that today, only 5% of the frail and elderly population is vaccinated against Covid. Not only that: all vaccinations, including mandatory ones including flu vaccinations, have decreased. A behavior that I find completely irresponsible."

But Crisanti's announcement regarding his positivity also caused controversy. The Venetian press, in fact, hypothesized that the virologist took a plane to return to Padua. Already positive? Crisanti himself clarifies to the microphones of the Radio 1 program “Un giorno da pecora”: «I have been positive for Covid since Monday evening. I arrived on a plane from London on Monday, took the car and went to Padua. Then I did the swab on Monday evening. And I didn't move from there ."
