In the first months of emergency due to the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic in Italy, the Prevention Directorate of the Ministry of Health "did not have staff capable of correctly translating from English into Italian". And for this reason the documents of the World Health Organization, written in English, "were sent to a company in Cagliari".

This is what emerges from a report by the Guardia di Finanza of Bergamo in the proceedings of the investigation into the management of the pandemic in the first months of 2020 , which sees the suspects - among others - of the former prime minister Giuseppe Conte, the former minister Roberto Speranza and the governor of Lombardy Attilio Fontana.

This circumstance "could explain why some ministerial measures were adopted several days after the publication by the WHO of some alerts".

It would be just one of the many "deficiencies in the management of the emergency by the Ministry of Health" highlighted by the investigations .

Only after February 20, the document reads, "a frantic and chaotic attempt to organize the response system began". Before that date, "little or nothing was done, at every level, also due to the fragmentation of responsibilities and the lack of clarity of the command line".
