The ISS has released the new monitoring on the Covid epidemic in Italy. In the report, all the Italian regions are classified as moderate risk, but the incidence and transmissibility index Rt continue to rise. The latter is back above 1 for the first time since August.

The weekly incidence at the national level is on the rise reaching the value of 53 cases per 100,000 inhabitants against 46 per 100,000 inhabitants last week.

In the period 13 October - 26 October 2021, the mean Rt calculated on symptomatic cases was equal to 1.15 (range 0.93 - 1.28), an increase compared to the previous week when it was 0.96 and at above the epidemic threshold.

As regards the situation in hospitals, the employment rate in intensive care is 4% (daily survey by the Ministry of Health as of November 4) compared to 3.7% for the week.

The employment rate in medical areas nationwide rose to 5.3% against 4.5% as of October 28th. However, the employment rate remains below the alert threshold which is set at 10% for intensive care and 15% for medical departments.

In detail, there are 13 Regions and Autonomous Provinces that this week record an incidence of Covid-19 cases above the critical alert threshold set at 50 cases per 100 thousand inhabitants, a threshold from which it becomes difficult to be able to track the cases.

The highest values are recorded in the Autonomous Province of Bolzano, with 189.1 cases per 100 thousand inhabitants, and in Friuli Venezia Giulia where the incidence value reached 139.6 cases per 100 thousand inhabitants. The lowest values are recorded instead in Molise (11.1) and Sardinia (14.8) .
