Convicted for drug trafficking in Cagliari, arrest in Veneto
The man, a 73-year-old, was surprised by the police while carrying out work in a building he owned in San Donà di Piave, near Venice
A 73-year-old man , originally from the province of Ferrara and resident in Andorra, was arrested by the carabinieri in San Donà di Piave, in the Venetian area, for a final sentence of 13 years and 4 months for drug trafficking issued by the court of Cagliari .
The wanted man was carrying out work in a dilapidated building, which appeared to have been inherited by himself. He did not resist the soldiers and declared that he had arrived in Italy a few days ago .
The Cagliari Prosecutor's Office had issued a detention order against him .
The man was taken to the prison in Venice to serve his prison sentence, as ordered by the Judicial Authority. The additional penalty of perpetual disqualification from public office, legal disqualification for the duration of the sentence and, subsequently, probation for three years was also issued against him.
