Irregular workers, subcontracted companies.

There were many "critical issues" found at the Esselunga construction site in Florence which caused the death of four workers (one is still missing).

On the dynamics of the collapse "it is premature to say anything", states the chief prosecutor of Florence Filippo Spiezia, but "the very empirical data we obtained from an initial inspection is that there were several critical issues that we immediately noticed".

It also appears from initial checks that "for some foreign workers there was a condition of irregularity regarding their presence on the national territory". «Having said this – specifies the prosecutor – the situation is different regarding contractual positions and anything else subject to subsequent investigations. For now we have limited ourselves to a mere correspondence between the position of these people and compliance with the rules of entry into the national territory".

The prosecutor announced that he will personally carry out another inspection of the site of the tragedy.
