First witnesses in the courtroom, next January 12, in the trial of two gynecologists from Humanitas in Milan accused of the death, due to bleeding, of a 40-year-old woman, after a miscarriage and during a curettage, in April 2018 .

The trial takes place in front of the eleventh criminal section, while the hospital insurance is already paying the first advances for compensation for the damage.

The investigation for manslaughter, coordinated by the prosecutor Mauro Clerici, was born from the complaint of the woman's partner, who died on 12 April 2018. The 40-year-old had lost the baby she was carrying in her womb spontaneously in the ninth week of pregnancy and, on advice of her trusted gynecologist, she went to Humanitas for the curettage.

During the surgery, a complication: the perforation of the uterine artery, which caused a major bleeding that the three doctors were not able to manage in the emergency.

In particular and according to what has been reconstructed, the gynecologists would have proceeded with the transfusions of a series of blood bags without understanding, according to the investigations, that to save the woman the uterus had to be removed in a maximum of half an hour. When they then decided to proceed with the hysterectomy, that is, the removal of the uterus with the laparotomy technique, it would have been too late.

The intervention of the general surgery team of the clinic in Rozzano, in the Milanese area, was of no use, and what was supposed to be a trivial surgery has turned into a tragedy.
