The 31-year-old tamer Ivan Orfei, bitten by a tiger during his performance at the Amedeo Orfei family circus stationed in Lecce, was discharged from the hospital with a 30-day prognosis and returned home .
The man had been hospitalized after suffering serious injuries to the shoulder, neck and leg . In the meantime the shows continue at the Circus but the number with the tigers has been suspended .
Aidaa, the Italian association for the defense of animals and the environment , has presented a complaint in which it requests that the conditions of the feline be verified . He also explains that these animals are often subjected to exhausting, continuous and violent training , which "due to their nature triggers very high levels of stress. If we add to this that they are kept for life in very small cages , it becomes clear that rebellion is around the corner".
The association hopes that the veterinary checks to which the tiger could be subjected will not lead to its slaughter.
