New political controversy, this time after some statements by the former President of the Chamber and former leader of the Communist Refoundation Party Fausto Bertinotti.
If he had still been sitting in the Montecitorio benches – Bertinotti said, interviewed by LA7 – he would have reacted to Giorgia Meloni's words on Ventotene by "throwing a book at her". An act for which he would then have been expelled from the hemicycle, the former communist leader imagined, but, he added, "transgression is answered with transgression".
All hell broke loose. Fratelli d'Italia immediately raised a chorus of protests to rally around the prime minister. For the number one of FdI at Palazzo Madama, Lucio Malan, it is «an attack on the safety of the Prime Minister» , while for the president of Meloni's party in the Chamber, Galeazzo Bignami, in this way «the left is showing its worst side». And there are also those, like the deputy Marco Perissa, who are asking the television network to «distance itself» from what the former president of the Chamber said.
