Backtrack in Cervinia: the Municipality will return to being called Le Breuil-Cervinia (and not just Le Breuil). After the controversies of the last few days, the change of direction has arrived with the municipal administration of Valtournenche and the Valle d'Aosta Region which have started the process to change the name of the famous tourist resort again.

The name "Le Breuil" was then shelved, which lasted only a couple of months. Mayor Elisa Cicco announced it at the end of a meeting in the Region: «I met with President Renzo Testolin to find a solution to the denomination problem. At the end of the discussion we decided to start the process of changing the toponym. We will send a request to this effect as a municipality to the regional administration." Testolin adds: «The Region makes itself available immediately to work on any assessment useful for accepting the request».

So the end to the controversy which received widespread media coverage, resulting in a political controversy. Not to mention the discontent in Cervinia, particularly among tourist operators.

Minister Daniela Santanché had specified: «Cervinia changes its name and I don't understand why. The well-known ski resort is recognized as such in Italy and around the world and such a drastic change can only harm the hotel tourism sector and the image of the entire Aosta Valley."

The story began in 2011 , when the procedure was started to arrive at the official determination of the toponyms of the small Aosta Valley town. The process was requested by the Revenue Agency to clarify the taxpayers' tax records.
