An 89-year-old woman was killed by two Amstaff dogs after she entered the courtyard of a private house by mistake - she was in a state of confusion.

It happened yesterday in Sassuolo, in the Modena area. The victim, Carla Gozzanelli, died a few steps from her home. She had wandered off, evading the caregiver's surveillance.

She entered the courtyard of a private house, there was a little girl who was in front of the gate waiting for her mother: “What are you doing here”, the little girl told Carla Gorzanelli.

The two dogs attacked and mauled the old woman, this is the hypothesis, for protective instinct towards the child.

At the site of the tragedy, the mobile police squad, the carabinieri and the forensics, as well as the 118 who could not do anything to save the life of the 89-year-old. The villa's video surveillance cameras will also be analyzed.

The old woman's son also arrived on the spot, who was looking for his mother: “She had never left her home, I don't know how it could have happened”.
