Nearly 60 kilos of pure cocaine hidden in a container arriving from South America.
The discovery was made in the port of Livorno , during an "occasional check" in the commercial areas of the airport, carried out by the Guardia di Finanza and officials from the anti-fraud department of the Customs office. It is estimated that the cocaine would have yielded over 40 million euros. Two people arrested.
To try to deceive any controls, the yellow flames explain, the drugs had been hidden in the internal structure of the container carrying a food load.
"The overall seizure carried out - explains Finance - marks a further step in favor of the fight against drug trafficking in Tuscany and nationally".
The drug, after being sampled and analyzed by the laboratory of the local Customs Agency, will be destroyed in the incinerator.
