Tragedy has struck the countryside of Manduria , in the Taranto province , where a 76-year-old man lost his life after the sudden collapse of an old rural building on his farmland. The collapse, for reasons still under investigation, left the owner trapped under the rubble. The alarm was raised in the early hours of the day.

Emergency medical personnel arrived on the scene, but there was nothing they could do for the man: they could only pronounce him dead. Firefighters also arrived in the area, conducting safety operations , while law enforcement began investigating the incident.

The investigations are now focused on the causes that led to the collapse of the building and the conditions of the structure at the time of the collapse.
