West Nile virus makes a victim in Italy. It is an 83-year-old who died in Piove di Sacco (in the province of Padua) from a severe form of encephalitis due to the disease transmitted by mosquitoes.

It has not been specified by the health authorities whether it is the patient who in recent days had been reported by the Higher Institute of Health as the first case of positivity in the country to West Nile discovered in Padua.

In fact, another young man who is positive for the virus is hospitalized in the Ulss 6 hospitals, while on a 62-year-old, always hospitalized for encephalitis in Piove di Sacco, investigations are underway to determine whether or not it is West Nile.
